Corridor 1 will operate as usual
This decision was taken, even though the route will intersect with the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) route, which is under construction.
"Corridor 1 will operate as usual," expressed Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishun) Head, Syafrin Liputo, Thursday (1/16).
Monas Bus Stop Officially Serves Route 14A Monas - JISHe explained it was based on a comprehensive review of various transportation studies, including the Study on Integrated Transportation Master Plan (SITRAMP) 2004, Comprehensive Transportation Study for Urban Integration (CTSUI) 2007, Jabodetabek Urban Transportation Policy Integration Project (JUTPI).
"Parallel studies are still ongoing along with the construction of MRT Phase 2A, which is targeted to operate to Monas in 2027 and to Kota in 2029," he explained.
He explained the construction of the East-West MRT and Jakarta LRT is also part of efforts to integrate rail-based transportation modes, making Jakarta's mass public transportation system more connected and efficient.
Comprehensive study of all public transport routes planned for implementation in 2025-2026, to support this policy.
He added Jakarta continues to shift the transportation paradigm from Car Oriented Development to Transit Oriented Development, with rail-based transport as the backbone.
"This aims to improve services and meet the mobility needs of residents," he explained.
Previously, the plan to close the corridor was due to efficiency considerations if the MRT was fully operational up to Kota Station. However, the Dishub was still reviewing the integration of the two modes of transportation to ensure optimal service for the public.
Then the MRT Phase 2A construction, which includes the line to Monas Station, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027. Further, the track to Kota Station was projected to be completed in 2029.
"The city confirms its commitment to maintaining the accessibility of existing public transportation while continuing to develop new infrastructure," he closed.
